5 Days Vocational Training Programme on Training and Pruning of Kiwi Fruits Orchard

        The ICAR- Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Anjaw successfully organized a "5 Days Vocational Training Programme on Training and Pruning of Kiwi Fruits" programme from 12-16th January, 2026 at vibrant village Kaho, Kibithoo and Bada Kundan. The training programme was conducted keeping in mind the mandated action plan under PMDDKY with the aim of obtaining better shape and size of plants, improving yield and quality of fruits and promoting scientific cultivation practices of kiwi fruit crops.
        A total of 20 participants, including farmers, farm women, and rural youth, participated in the programme. Mr. Satveer Yadav (SMS, Horticulture) delivered a lecture on the training and pruning of kiwi fruit plants. He explained the important role of training and pruning in kiwi cultivation, as flowering and fruiting occur on new branches. Therefore, kiwi plants should be pruned every year during the dormancy period, i.e., from December to January. He further highlighted that the climatic conditions of Anjaw district are well suited for kiwi fruit cultivation, making it a potential fruit crop of the district. He urged the farmers to adopt scientific methods of training and pruning of kiwi plants to enhance their production and productivity.
        Mr. Ugarsain Sangwan, (SMS, Land & Water Management Engineering) also highlighted on the protected cultivation, irrigation, soil and nutrient management of Kiwi fruit orchard.
