An awareness programme was conducted as part of the Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav (MGMG) nationwide campaign on Balanced Use of Fertilizers at Umktieh village, Umsning Block, Ri Bhoi district, Meghalaya by MGMG Team 5 of the institute. Twenty (20) no.s of female farmers were sensitized on importance of soil test based nutrient application, balanced use of chemical fertilizers including micronutrients for crop productivity and environmental health, benefits of using organic resources viz., vermicompost, biofertilizers for crop production. Farmers were also made aware about organic management of various diseases of rice, ginger with special focus to rice blast, benefits and ways to use agro-wastes such as paddy straw for mushroom cultivation (oyster mushroom) on small scale to diversify the nutrition of their family. Seeds of French bean were also distributed to the farmers.
