ICAR-KVK, West Garo Hills conducted one awareness programme today on “World Rabies Day 2026” at Jenggitchakgre village. Every year on 28 September, the world observes World Rabies Day to raise awareness about rabies, promote prevention and highlight global efforts to eliminate human deaths from this deadly yet entirely preventable disease. The theme for World Rabies Day 2026 is “Stronger Together”, emphasizing that rabies elimination cannot be achieved by any one sector or organization alone. It requires coordinated action involving communities, veterinarians, healthcare professionals, governments, animal owners, researchers and international organizations. WHO describes the 2026 theme as a call for stronger collaboration in dog vaccination, surveillance, public awareness and community-led solutions. ICAR-KVK, West Garo Hills organized the awareness programme at village to create awareness among the villagers about the impact of Rabies on humans and animals and its control measures. Around 25 villagers participated in the programme.
