A team of scientists comprising E. Lamalakshmi Devi, Chongtham Tania, and L Chanu Langlentombi from ICAR Research Complex
for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat, Imphal, conducted a one-day awareness programme on “Balanced Use of Fertilizer and Soil Health Management” under the Mera Gaon
Mera Gaurav (MGMG) initiative on 15th May 2026 at Patsoi Part-II. The programme was organised with the objective of enhancing awareness among rural farmers on balanced fertilizer
use and soil health improvement for sustainable agriculture.
During the programme, the team interacted with local farmers and emphasized the importance of soil testing, judicious and
balanced application of fertilizers, benefits of using biofertilizers and biopesticides, and the adoption of Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) practices for maintaining
long-term soil fertility and sustainable crop production. A total of 28 farmers, including 25 women farmers, participated in the awareness programme. During the event, agricultural
inputs such as seedlings, urea, and biopesticides were distributed among the participating farmers.
