Day 6 of the “Khet Bachao Abhiyan” was organized at Momong village of Chongkham block of Namsai by KVK Namsai in collaboration with the Departments of Agriculture and Horticulture. More than 40 farmers attended the programme where HDO, Chongkham explained the importance of water harvesting, climate resilient farming, mulching etc for management of soil and micro climate. She also guided the farmers to reduce indiscriminate usage of weedicides. SMS plant protection of KVK explained the use of organic plant protection measures such as crop rotation, Trichoderma, neem oil, pheromone traps etc for control of diseases and pests. A demonstration on milky mushroom cultivation was also shown to the farmers as an alternate and sustainable farming strategy for utilization of farm waste. SMS Agricultural Extension discussed about practices like green manuring, pulse cultivation and bio fertilizers for soil health management.
