Input Distribution cum Farmers’ Doorstep Advisory Programme conducted under FFP Programme

        An “Input Distribution cum Farmers’ Doorstep Advisory Programme” was conducted at Mawsiatkhnam village, East Khasi Hills district, Meghalaya under the Farmers’ FIRST Project by the Division of Technology Assessment and Capacity Building, ICAR-RC-NEH Region. The programme aimed to strengthen integrated farming systems and promote scientific fisheries management among the village farmers. Under the programme, critical inputs were distributed to two model Integrated Farming System (IFS) units of the village. A total of 10 bags of feeds, 100 poultry birds, and 1000 fish fingerlings were provided to support and enhance the productivity of these model units. In addition, doorstep advisory services were extended to five other fish farmers of the village, ensuring wider coverage and benefit within the community. The programme was led by Dr. S. Gojendro Singh, Scientist (Fisheries Resource Management), DAFS. During the advisory sessions, he elaborated and demonstrated key aspects related to pre-monsoon precautions, water quality management, and appropriate feeding strategies in fish farming. The emphasis was on adopting scientific and sustainable practices to improve farm productivity and resilience. The participating farmers expressed their satisfaction with the programme, noting that the training and inputs helped them better understand the importance of scientific fisheries management for a more productive and profitable farming system. The training and input distribution activities were jointly coordinated by Dr. S. Gojendro Singh, Scientist (Fisheries Resource Management) & Co-PI, Dr. N. Uttam Singh – Senior Scientist & PI, Mr. Saniah S. Sumer – Project Staff. Overall, the programme contributed to capacity building of the farmers of Mawsiatkhnam village and supported the broader objectives of the Farmers’ FIRST Project in promoting farmer-centric, scientifically managed, and integrated farming practices in the region.
