Hindi Diwas 2026 was celebrated at the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, on September 14, 2026, with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
        Speaking on the occasion, Dr. G. Kadirvel, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, highlighted the importance of preserving our mother tongues while also promoting Hindi as a language that connects people and strengthens national unity.
        He emphasized that learning an additional language is always beneficial and encouraged everyone to use Hindi in day-to-day official activities wherever possible. He also urged the gathering to think of new ways to promote Hindi and create greater awareness about the language.
        The programme was attended by Dr. Brij Pal Singh, PS and Head, DTAC; Shri Alok Kumar, Chief Administrative Officer; Shri Prashant Kumar, Chief Finance Officer; and Smt. Tapati Pattanayak, In-charge, Hindi Cell.
        The celebration included various activities such as poem recitation and an Antakshari competition, making the occasion lively and engaging. These activities highlighted the importance of Hindi in bringing people together, improving communication and promoting cultural understanding, while respecting the rich diversity of India’s regional languages.
