ICAR - KVKs Launched and Flag Off Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan

ICAR - Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ri Bhoi:
        ICAR- Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ri Bhoi launched and Flag Off for Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan- Bharat Krishi Jagran Yatra: Anusandhan Kisan Ke Dwar as Pre-Kharif Campaign on 29th May 2025. The campaign launched and Flag Off three Krishi Rath by the Chief Guest Dr. S. Ghatak, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam in presence of more that 100 participants including Dr. N. Okendro Singh, Dean CPGSAS (CAU), Dr. Ram Singh, Dean, CoA, Kyrdemkulai, Dr. S Basanta Singh, Nodal Officer Institute KVKs, Heads of Divisions of ICAR, Dr. Mokidul Islam, Head KVK Ri Bhoi, Shri Pranjal Jyoti Dutta, District Horticulture Officer, Smt Serolyne Chyne, District Agriculture Officer cum PD-ATMA, District Veterinary Officer, Senior District line departments Officers, 30 students from College of Agriculture, Kyrdemkulai, State and District Nodal Officers of VKSA, Scientist from ICAR-ATARI Umiam and ICAR-NBPGR Regional Station, Representative from DDK Shillong etc. The aim of the Abhiyan is to bridge the gap between agricultural research and the farming community by taking the knowledge directly to the fields.The Krishi Rath with 3 teams consisting ICAR Scientist, CAU Faculty,Line department officials,members from FPOs, NGOs and progressive farmer moved from KVK RiBhoi in 3 different routes covering 9 villages I.e. Nongtraw, Umsarang, Lumdiengngan, Bhoirymbong, Thadnongiaw, Sohliya, Nongrim Nongladew, Mawbri and Khweng at 3 points covered 1082 farmers. The Krishi Raths are equipped with PA systems for providing voice messages from Hon’ble PM, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare with agro-advisory informations, printed materials of leaflets/pamphlets, conducting demonstrations on relevant technologies, and creating awareness about different govt. schemes etc among the farming community. The awareness provided to farmers for technologies like Soil health , Nursery management, Soil and water conservation, Climate resilient technologies, Natural farming, Mushroom production, Composite fish culture, Off-season vegetable cultivation, Vermicomposting, Integrated Farming System, Resource Conservation Technologies, Animal feed/health management, Seedling root-dipping in SSP-CAU Bio-enhancer amended slurry method for transplanted rice and vegetables, CAU-Bioenhancer plus Um-Comb application of organic rice cultivation etc for the enhancement of yield and income of farmers.

        ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), West Garo Hills launched and flagged off three Krishi Rath under the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan - Bharat Krishi Jagran Yatra: Anusandhan Kisan Ke Dwar as a Pre-Kharif Campaign on 29th May 2025.The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Mr. Kurosh M. Marak, Ex-MDC, Barengapara, in the presence of over 995 (287-Male and 708 Female)participants. Special Guests included Prof. Puspita Das (CAU), Mrs. Paulette A. Sangma (DAO), Dr. Serenebell W. Momin (AH & Vety), Dr. H. Talang, Dr. Christy Sangma, Dr. Bijaya Laxmi, Dr. Niranjan S, and Mr. Prodeep M. Sangma (ATMA).The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Monica S. Singh, Head, KVK, in which she welcome the guest and participants and briefed about the programme significance followed by an address by Dr. H. Talang on ICAR technologies like soil health and climate resilience. Dr. Serenebell W. Momin and Mrs. Paulette A. Sangma emphasized off-season vegetable farming, vermicomposting, livestock care, and government schemes. The three Krishi Rath teams comprised ICAR scientists, CAU faculty, line department officials, ATMA staff, and progressive farmers. The teams covered 11 villages: Baburambil, Gangbanga, Dolgengaggre, Dapgre, Kongtakpara, Godagre, Magupara, Bamonpara, Chongnapara, Madra, and Babelapara.They reached 974 farmers, including 681 farm women, promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Team leaders Dr. Joyoshree Mahanta, Dr. Tarun K Das, and Dr. N Arun K Singh shared insights on Integrated Farming Systems and feed/health management.Prof. Puspita Das introduced innovations like SSP-CAU Bio-enhancer slurry and organic rice practices to boost yield and income. The Chief Guest highlighted the significance of VKSA in bridging the gap between research and farmers. Extension literature on profitable agricultural technologies was also distributed. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Pradeep Sangma, Deputy Project Director, ATMA.
