ICAR Manipur Centre Along with its Five KVKs Celebrate World Environment Day with Plantation Drive

        The ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat, along with its five Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) - KVK Imphal West, KVK Thoubal, KVK Chandel, KVK Churachandpur, and KVK Ukhrul, celebrated World Environment Day 2026 by organizing a tree plantation programme at its Lamphelpat office campus and Langol Farm. Around 430 nos. of trees were planted around the campus of ICAR Lamphelpat and on the hills of Langol farm.
        Addressing the gathering, Dr. Soibam Basanta Singh, Head of the Regional Centre, highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and emphasized the need for sustained efforts towards protecting natural resources and maintaining ecological balance. He urged everyone to actively contribute towards creating a greener, cleaner, and healthier environment for future generations.

   



        Scientists, SMS and other staff members of the Centre enthusiastically participated in the plantation drive, planting a variety of avenue and native tree species across both locations. The initiative aimed to strengthen the region's green cover and promote environmental sustainability. The programme reflected ICAR Manipur Centre's continued commitment, together with its five KVKs, to environmental stewardship and sustainable development through community-oriented conservation activities.
