International Women’s Day celebrated on 8th March every year honours women’s achievements, raises awareness about gender equality and promotes women empowerment. ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya celebrated the International Women’s Day 2025 with the theme “Accelerate Action”. To mark the occasion a day long workshop was organized on the aspects of “Harassment at workplace” wherein two sessions were conducted by resource persons Dr. Daiahunlin Mawlong, Assistant Professor, Shillong Law College and Ms. Bariphylla Lyttan, Case Manager/Team Lead, Impulse NGO Network for all the employees of the Institute. The workshop was attended by all the employees of different cadre HODs, scientists, technical, supporting staffs, contractual staffs. Speaking on the inaugural programme, Director of the Institute Dr. V. K. Mishra expressed his satisfaction at the congenial working atmosphere of the institute for all. He mentioned that India as a country upheld the dignity of women, in every walk of life due respect should be there for every role of the women. He also expected respect and coordination to prevail amongst the employees to maintain a healthy working condition. In the sessions that followed, the resource persons appraised the employees about the rules and laws of harassment at workplace and also the consequences for the victims and the doers. The workshop was organized by the Internal Complaint Committee unit of the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya.
