KHET BACHAO ABHIYAN, 1ST June to 30th June-2026
ICAR KRISHI VIGYAN KENDRA, IMPHAL WEST, ICAR RESEARCH COMPLEX FOR NEH REGION, MANIPUR CENTRE, LAMPHELPAT
As part of the month-long nationwide
campaign “KHET BACHAO ABHIYAN (Save the Farmland)”, observed from 1st June to 30th June 2026,
an intensive awareness programme was organized and conducted at Kachikhul Village, Imphal West
on the 12th June-2026, under the aegis of ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Imphal West, ICAR Research
Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat.
The campaign, aimed at promoting soil health conservation,
sustainable agriculture, and scientific nutrient management, was launched by the Hon'ble Union Minister of
Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The campaign is being
implemented across the country through ICAR institutes, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), State Agriculture
Departments, and other agricultural extension agencies.
At the outset, Dr. Th. Motilal Singh, Subject Matter Specialist
and Head In-charge, KVK Imphal West, highlighted the objectives, importance, and significance of the KHET BACHAO ABHIYAN.
He emphasized the need for conserving soil health through balanced nutrient management, adoption of sustainable agricultural
practices, and judicious use of agricultural inputs.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Soibam Basanta Singh, Head,
Regional Centre, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat, elaborated on the importance
of soil health management and the role of farmers in ensuring sustainable agricultural development. He also stressed
the need to create awareness among farming communities regarding the long-term benefits of scientific nutrient management
and environmentally sustainable farming practices.
Further, Dr. Ch. Roben Singh, Dr. K. Suraj Singh, and officials from the
District Agriculture Office, Imphal West, delivered insightful lectures and actively interacted with the participating farmers
on various aspects of soil conservation, balanced fertilizer application, sustainable farming practices, and the objectives of
the KHET BACHAO ABHIYAN.
A total of 136 farmers participated in the one-day intensive awareness programme.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, during which farmers shared their experiences and sought expert guidance on
improving soil health and adopting sustainable agricultural practices.
