ICAR Manipur Centre Organised One day Workshop cum Exhibition on Livelihood improvement of tribal farming communities through IFS under TSP

        ICAR-Research Complex for North East Hill Region, Manipur Centre organized a workshop-cum-exhibition on livelihood improvement of tribal farming communities through the integrated farming system on 28th March 2025 in collobaration with AICRP Seed (Crops) TSP, ICAR-DOGR and KVKs (Chandel, Churachandpur, Imphal West, Ukhrul and Tamenglong). The workshop aimed at addressing challenges and opportunities in agriculture of tribal populated areas of Manipur under TSP. In the workshop, Shri. Thaithuilung Panmei, Commissioner and Secretary (Horticulture) Government of Manipur, graced as Chief Guest, he urged the tribal farming community to adopt the feasible agri and allied technologies of ICAR to boost up socio-economic of the communities.
        Professor Ph. Ranjit Sharma, Director, Directorate of Extension Education, CAU-Imphal graced as Guest of honour and he highlighted adoption of profitable different agri ventures in integrated mode.
        Dr. Lois Hongrey Joint Director, Vety. and Animal Husbandry Ukhrul, Govt. of Manipur, outlined importance livestock of farming communities and their roles in IFS.
        Dr. I. Meghachandra Singh, Retd. Principal Scientist, ICAR Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat highlighted the role of hills in overall development of agriculture in the state as valley agricultural lands is gradually shrinking due to urbanization.
        Dr Ch Basudha Devi, Head, ICAR Manipur Centre, urged the farmers to adopt modern fish production technologies to improve the livelihood. Seven (7) outstanding TSP Farmers from different district of Manipur were awarded with certificate for adopting profitable integrated farming system.
        Twenty-two exhibition stalls displayed different technologies by tribal farmers, FPOs, KVKs, SHGs, Mushroom growers, Entrepreneur. Distributed of various critical inputs like HYV paddy seeds, Tissue Cultured Banana, poultry chicks, mushroom spawns, fish fingerlings, sprayers, and vegetable seeds kits. The workshop was attended state government officials, Staffs and Scientists of Centre, Heads and SMSs of all ICAR KVKs of Manipur.
        A total of 257 tribal farmers from all districts of Manipur and 93 officials were attended the programme.
