ICAR Research Complex for NEH region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat, organised training
programme from March 10th to 12th 2025 at Mushroom Research Lab of the Plant Pathology Section under AICRP on Mushroom. A total of 50
mushroom enthusiastic farmers from different villages of Manipur participated in the training. The programme was organised with aim of
the popularization of mushroom in the state a pathway for increasing mushroom production, consumption and conversion of agro-waste to wealth.
The farmers received hands-on training on the scientific cultivation of summer oyster mushroom variety, RC-Manichengum-1, released by ICAR Manipur
Centre and Pluerotus florida, which included chopping straw, treatment, spawning and maintenance of mushroom house. Participants were also trained
in the cultivation technology of split gill mushrooms (Schizophyllum commune), which involved substrate preparation, bagging, sterilization, spawning
and, among other steps.
During the programme, the farmers discussed with experts the challenges they faced, particularly
contamination during the cultivation process and pest management. The programme was coordinated by Dr. A. Ratankumar Singh, Senior Scientist (Plant Pathology)
& PI-AICRP on Mushroom, Sh. Thokchom Surjit Singh, T3 (Plant Pathology), and Smt. Angamlu Rongmei, T1 (Plant Pathology) and YPs. The programme was concluded
with distribution of participation certificates and closing remarks.
