ICAR-Mizoram Centre conducted three day’s training programme on “Seed quality production for sustainable agriculture in Mizoram” under AICRP Seed Project

        A training programme on “Seed quality production for sustainable agriculture in Mizoram” was organized by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Mizoram Centre, Kolasib under AICRP Seed Project (ISP) from 17th to 19th February, 2025. A total of 26 selected farmers (12 Female and 14 Male) from Thingdawl, Meidum, Saiphai, Kolasib and Bukvannei villages have attended the training programme. Presentation on seed production scenario and ongoing seed project, activities and varietal success, agronomic management of crops for seed production, Soil health management, composting techniques, pest and insect management, natural farming, integrated farming system, role of GKMS and weather forecasting were delivered by experts (Scientist and YP’s). Farm demonstration and visit of vermicomposting, mushroom, poultry, IFS was also done. Knapsack sprayer was distributed to all the farmers and 15 bags of urea fertilizer was also distributed to selected farmers. A fruitful interaction between the scientist and farmers on quality seed production and maintenance and other topics was there. The training was coordinated by Dr. Lungmuana, Sr. Scientist (Soil Sc.), Dr. Vanlalruati, Sr. Scientist (Horti-Flori.), Dr. Lalhruaipuii, Sr. Scientist (Vety, Micro.), Mr. P.L. Lalrinsanga, Scientist (Aquaculture), Dr. Blessa Sailo, Sr. Scientist (Vety, Public Health) and Dr. S. Doley (Pr. Scientist).
