“Sustainable Pathways for Scaling Oilseed Production in the Northeastern Region of India”
The Oilseed Kisan Mela–cum–National Seminar on “Sustainable Pathways for Scaling Oilseed Production in the Northeastern Region of India” was organized on 13th and 14th March 2026 at the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema, in collaboration with the ICAR–Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research, Hyderabad, to promote sustainable oilseed production in the region. The programme was graced by Mhathung Yanthan, Hon’ble Agricultural Advisor to the Government of Nagaland, as Chief Guest during the Kisan Mela, while R. K. Mathur, Director of ICAR–IIOR, attended as Chief Guest of the National Seminar, and Girish Patil S., Director of the ICAR–National Research Centre on Mithun, was the Guest of Honour. Experts emphasized the need to increase oilseed production through improved varieties, scientific cultivation, soil health management, and utilization of rice fallow lands. The event witnessed participation of more than 350 participants including farmers, scientists, and officials, and farmers were provided with quality seeds and essential inputs to encourage adoption of improved oilseed cultivation practices.
