Training cum Input Distribution Programme of Kiwi and Plum saplings under Tribal Sub-Plan Project

        Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Anjaw organized “Training cum Input Distribution Programme of Kiwi and Plum Saplings” under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) Project on 6 February 2026 at the KVK Office, Metengliang. The programme was attended by 60 farmers, rural youths, public representatives and SHG members from Chaglagam, Metengliang, Kongra and Rittiliang villages. A total of 60–80 saplings per farmer (30–40 kiwi and 30–40 plum) were distributed to promote scientific fruit cultivation and livelihood enhancement.
        Prior to distribution, participants were advised to prepare land for plantation. Mr. Satveer Yadav, SMS (Horticulture) delivered technical guidance on site selection, pit preparation, planting, irrigation, training and pruning, harvesting and pest management, highlighting kiwi as a high-value crop and identifying Chaglagam circle as a hotspot for kiwi cultivation. Dr. S. Peter Singh, SMS (Social Science) emphasized scientific kiwi plantation, natural farming, and nursery management. Mr. Naveen Khoisnam discussed improved practices of toria cultivation, while Mr. Ugarsain Sangwan stressed soil and water conservation for kiwi, plum, and pomegranate. Mrs. Pooja Singnale highlighted entrepreneurship opportunities through value addition and food processing using local resources.
