Training cum Input Distribution Programme of Kiwi, Plum and Pomegranate saplings under Tribal Sub-Plan Project at Vibrant Village

        Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Anjaw successfully organized “Training cum Input Distribution Programme of Kiwi, Plum and Pomegranate Saplings” under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) Project from 9th to 10th February, 2026 at the Bada Kundan village. All together 20 farmers, rural youths, public leaders and self- help groups from several villages participated in the programme. A total of 2000 saplings of Kiwi, Plum and Pomegranate were given to vibrant village farmers. A total of 20 farmers from Bada Kundan, Chota Kundan, Kibithoo, Dhanbari, Mushai and Chirak villages received 90-120 Saplings each (30-40 Kiwi, 30-40 Plum and 30-40 Pomegranate Saplings). The objective of the programme is livelihood improvement of farmers by scientific cultivation of Kiwi, Plum and Pomegranate fruits.
        Addressing the participants, Mr. Satveer Yadav delivered a lecture on scientific cultivation of Kiwi, Plum and Pomegranate fruits such as site selection, digging of pit, planting of saplings, irrigation, training and pruning, harvesting and insect- pest management of Kiwi, Plum and Pomegranate fruits. He emphasized the potential of Kiwi, Plum and Pomegranate fruits as a high-value crop. It is high time to create awareness among the farmers and rural youths for cultivation of such crops for enhancing income.
        Er. Ugarsain Sangwan, SMS (Land and Water Management Engineering), delivered a talk on the importance of mulching in horticultural crops. Mulching helps maintain soil moisture, control soil erosion, and regulate soil temperature, which is especially important due to water scarcity during the winter season.
        Dr. Debasis Sasmal (Sr. Scientist & Head) highlighted that the climatic condition of Anjaw district are well suited for Kiwi, Plum and Pomegranate cultivation, making it a potential fruit crop of the district. He urged the farmers to adopt scientific cultivation to enhance their production and productivity.
