Namsai, Feb 21:
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Namsai,
in collaboration with the District Agriculture Office, Tezu, organized a training program for extension
officers and extension workers on oilseed cultivation, particularly mustard and sesame, along with discussions
on prevailing marketing challenges and potential solutions in the current agricultural scenario.
Dr. Madhumita Sonowal Bora, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS)
in Plant Protection, provided insights into mustard cultivation, pest and disease management, and marketing
opportunities in Tezu district. She emphasized the importance of applying boron fertilizer in mustard crops to
enhance productivity.
Mr. Kadagonda Nithinkumar, SMS (Agronomy), highlighted the significance
of sesame in oil production and discussed scientific cultivation techniques that can help farmers achieve higher yields
and increased income. He also elaborated on current marketing strategies and solutions for oilseed crops.
A total of 20 extension officials participated in the training program,
gaining valuable knowledge to enhance oilseed production and address marketing challenges in the region.
