The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dimapur, conducted a Training-cum-Input Distribution
Programme under the Cluster Frontline Demonstration (CFLD) on pulses at Luzheto village, Kuhoboto Block, in collaboration with ATMA, Kuhoboto Block.
A total of 21 farmers participated in the programme.
The training focused on scientific cultivation practices for pulse crops,
particularly rice bean and cowpea, with emphasis on improved production technologies, crop management and the importance of
pulses in sustainable farming systems. Rice bean and cowpea seeds were also distributed to the participating farmers to encourage
the adoption of improved cultivation practices. The programme was conducted by Dr. Bendangla Imsong, CTO (Plant Breeding), KVK Dimapur.
Meanwhile, KVK Dimapur observed National Nutrition Week 2026 from 1st to 7th
September at the KVK Conference Hall. The programme, also observed as a part of Poshan Maah, focused on creating awareness among
women farmers about the importance of balanced nutrition and healthy dietary practices.
Dr. Chingakham Sima Chanu, SMS (Home Science), KVK Dimapur,
interacted with the women farmers and explained the importance of a balanced diet, adequate intake of essential
nutrients, dietary diversity and healthy food choices for maintaining good health and well-being. Discussion on inclusion
of locally available seasonal fruits and vegetables were conducted. Demonstration of ‘Poshan Thali’ based on the locally available
seasonal foods was conducted during the program. It emphasized on the portion control and its role in management of health and disease.
She also explained on the role of women in creating awareness among the family members to make healthy food choices and informed decision
while preparing meal for a family.
