BD Phoenix Automated Microbiology System - Animal Health Division, HQ, Umiam/div>
Instrument details:
Make: BD Biosciences, USA
Model: BD Phoenix- 100 (Batch Px1681) Automated Microbiology System

The Phoenix Automated Microbiology System is a new, fully automated system for the rapid identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The BD Phoenix automated microbiology system is the newest system to obtain clearance from the Food and Drug Administration. The BD Phoenix automated identification and susceptibility testing system offers rapid, accurate and reliable identification and susceptibility results.

Working principle:The BD Phoenix Susceptibility System incorporates the use of an oxidationreduction indicator, turbidometric growth detection, full on-panel antimicrobial concentrations and the BDXpert System. Together these make up the Phoenix Susceptibility System resulting in rapid, accurate and reliable antimicrobial susceptibility results. These results are further enhanced by specific delayed resistance features, providing additional assurance that Phoenix results are not only rapid but accurate. The inclusion of all reported antimicrobial concentrations on the panel provides the foundation for detection of emerging resistance. The AST side of the combination panel contains up to 84 wells with dried antimicrobial panels and 1 growth control well. The assay is a broth-based microdilution test.
